Written: 1761

 Floyd, Francis, will date 30 Dec 1761, proved Mar Ct 1761; In the name 
of God Amen... I Francis Floyd of Edgecombe County... being very sick 
and weak in body but of perfect mind & memory thanks be give to God... 
my body to be buried in a desent Christian burial at the discretion of 
my executors nothing doubting but at the general resurrection God shall 
return the same again... Imprimis I give and bequeath unto Elizabeth my 
dearly beloved wife one feather bed and furniture, I also lend her the 
use of my plantation and land and mill during her widowhood, then I 
give & bequeath unto my beloved son (Parram Floyd) the plantation 
whereon I now live with my water grist mill and 140 acres of land, 
being the part of my land joyning on the north side of Swift Creek.  I 
also give him one bed and furniture and one young mare; item I give and 
bequeath unto my beloved son (Cyrus Floyd) all the remaining part of my 
land, also one young mare and one feather bed and furniture; item I 
give and bequeath to my beloved daughter (Dalalet Floyd) one feather 
bed and furniture and I leave the use of the rest of my estate to my 
wife during her widowhood and afterward I give it to my children, to 
wit, (Parrum Floyd), Cyrus Floyd, Benja Floyd, Delalah Floyd, Lodisa 
Floyd and Elizabeth Floyd to be equally divided among them.  I appoint 
& ordain my wife, Elizabeth Floyd and my son, Parram Floyd executors to 
this my Last Will, signed Francis Floyd (mark), wit (James M 
Harris)(X), (Matthew Lowry), William Drake.  Proved by the oath of 
(Matthew Lowry) and Elizabeth Floyd qualified as executor.  Will Book
