In the Name of God Amen, I John Garner, Sr of (Coeneto) in Edgecombe County being old and weake in body but of sound mind and memory thanks be to God... Imprimis I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah Wright my Negro boy (Nead) to her and the lawful heirs of her body; Item- I give and bequeath unto my daughter Jayn Garner to my Negro Lucy to her and the lawful heirs of her body; Item- I give and bequeath to my son, John Garner my boy (Isaac); Item- I give and bequeath unto my ( ) son Jonathan Garner my Negro boy Peter; Item- I give and bequeath unto my son Absalom Garner my Negro boy Sam; Item- I give and bequeath to my daughter (Judy Garner) my Negro fellow (Quamines) to her and her lawful heirs of her body; Item- I give and bequeath unto my youngest daughter Onner Garner my Negro wench named (Dot) to her and the lawful heirs of her body; Item- I give unto my two youngest daughters (Jodey) and (Onner) each of them a young Negro (apiece) if (there) is any at the time of the division of my estate and if there is no young Negroes then the same above mentioned (Judy & Anner) and if there be young Negroes ( ) gets them. I give and bequeath unto my son John Garner the above mentioned Nan to the only use and behoof him and his heirs my Negro (Quamine) if there be young ones for ( ) Jonathan Garner to the only use and behoof of him. Item- I give and bequeath in the same manner my Negro wench Dot to my son Absalom Garner to the only use and behoof him providing there be young Negroes for my above mentioned (Judy and Anner). Item- I give and bequeath unto my daughter Martha Garner (five shillings sterling in remembrance that she is my daughter. Item- I give and bequeath to my grandson William Faircloth 25 shillings sterling. Item- I give and bequeath to my son John Garner the manor and dwelling plantation with 170 acres of land for the only and behoof of him. Item- I give and bequeath to my son Jonathan Garner 100 acres of land where (William Wiggins) formerly lived to the only use and behoof of him. Item- I give and bequeath unto my son Absalom Garner 100 acres of land being between (his ) above mentioned to the only use and befoof of ( ). Item- I give and bequeath unto my loving wife Martha Garner all my workings ( ) from the date thereof in during her widowhood and my personal estate to my loving wife Martha Garner during the time of her widowhood. Item- I give and bequeath all my working ( ) and rest of my estate at the time of my wife's death or marriage to be equally divided to all my children but the two above mentioned Mathew Garner and William Faircloth. Item- I ordain my wife Martha and my son John Garner hole and sole executors till the day of marriage or death and then my son hole and sole executor. Item- I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah ( ) two cows and calfes and after this whole (dividend) to be deducted of her share of this my last will and testament revoking all wills or other testament ever by me made or ordained in witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this twenty fifth of September of 1760. The within will was in open Court exhibited by the exrs therein named and proved by the oath of Thomas one of the subscribing ( ) thereto who likewise swore that he saw the other two ( ) subscribe the same and at the same time the exeors was qualified according to law which is ordered to be qualified and the will to be recorded.
