Written: 1808

	Gray, Benjamin, 1808; PETITION FOR DOWER by Milbry Gray, who 
states that she is the widow and relict of the late Benjamin Gray late 
of Edgecombe Co, who died 10 June 1808, intestate and seized and 
possessed of two tracts of land in Edgecombe County, one containing 100 
acres adjoining the lands of William Draughon, Ezekiah Meazles and 
others and one other tract containing 250 acres adjoining the lands of 
Ezekaih Meazles, Drury Williams and others and also one other tract 
containing 150 acres adjoining the lands of David Bullock, Zadock 
Bracewell and others; deceased left three children, infants under the 
age of 21 years who are without guardian, she asks court to appoint a 
guardian for said children and to lay off her dower in said lands, 
signed Francis L. Dancy, for petitioner, and Hardy Horn appointed 
guardian (Pro Hac vice).  DOWER- By order of court commissioners lay 
off dower for Milberry Gray, widow of Benjamin Gray, dec’d, beginning 
at a pine in James Lupo’s line then along John Williams line north to a 
pine the corner tree in my line then east along said line to a pine 
corner tree in the said Lupo’s line then so along a line of marked 
trees to a corner a turkey oak then north 41 poles to a pine then east 
80 poles to a pine then north 30 poles to a red oak then east 40 poles 
to a pine then south 30 poles to a black jack then east 74 poles to a 
pine then south 41 poles to a pine then to the first station, signed 4
