Daughtridge, S.H. Hargrove, W.D. Jordan, JP. R.S. Petway received $6 fee for surveying land, recorded in Bk 29, page 490. WRIT OF PARTITION- C.H. Jordan, et al petition for partition of land Nov. Ct. 1866 appoint W.W. Parker, W.M. Daughtridge, S.H. Hargrove and Theo Thomas and R.S. Petway as commissioners to divide a tract of land adjoining Gray Armstrong and S.H. Hargrove and containing 172 acres into five equal parts as nearly as they can and set apart to Cornilus H. Jordan, James Jordan, Emily Jordan, Louisa Littleton and Martha Ann Ruffin, issued 31 Dec 1866. PETITION of C.H. Jordan, Emily Jordan, E.G. Littleton and wife, M.L. Littleton, Martha Jordan & Jas. C. Jordan, infants by their next friend, Redin S. Petway, filed in Nov. Ct. of Pleas and Quarters 1860 states that Gray Jordan of Edge. Co. was seized and possessed of a tract of 174 acres at the time of his death, adjoining the lands of Gray Armstrong, Wm. S. Battle, Wm. M. Daughtridge et al; he was also survived by his wife, Sarah (This petition was on a printed form, there was also a handwritten version dated 1866). PETITION, HANDWRITTEN & DATED 1866) Cornelius H. Jordan, James C. Jordan, Emily J. Jordan, E.(?) Littleton and wife, Louisa and Martha Ann Ruffin, now a widow, stating that Gray Jordan died several years ago leaving a tract of land adjoining the lands of Gray Armstrong & S.H. Hargrove containing about 172 acres; petitioners were children of said Gray Jordan, Nov. Ct. 1866. PETITION of Whitmel Williams, William D. Long and Lishy Ann E. Long, his wife and Andrew Jordan, an infant without guardian to Nov. Ct. 1853, states that Gray Jordan conveyed to his son, Richard Jordan several years ago a tract of land bounded on one side by the road leading from Jesse C. Knight’s to Rocky Mount, adjoining the lands of Gray Armstrong, Martha Braswell, Orren Daniel and others, containing about 75 acres; said Richard has since died leaving the children of said Richard entitled to said land; children are Henry Jordan, Gray Jordan and petitioners the said Lishy Ann E. Long who is the wife of your petitioner, William D. Long and petitioner Andrew Jordan; the said Henry first conveyed his undivided share to the said Gray and later the said Gray conveyed his undivided share and that of said Henry to the petitioner, Whitmel Williams; petitioner Whitmel Williams is entitled to one half and petitioners William D. Long and wife, and Andrew Jordan are entitled to one fourth share each, petitioners ask court to appoint commissioners to divide said land. Court appointed Elisha Thomas, Theophilus Thomas, Henry Hargrove, Orren P. Daniel and Dorris Brake as commissioners to divide land.
