I William Maund of the County of Edgecombe and Parish of St Marys knowing to ( ) for all men to die and the time when uncertain... first I bequeath my soul to Jesus Christ my redeemer & my body to the dust to be buried in a Christian Decent manner... Item I give to my Dear & Loving wife Mary Maund all my (swin) & ( ) cattle & two horses Bucky & Jock only returning ( ) which I give to Mothers children & only ( ) I give to Mother ( ); I give & bequeath to my son (Hardie Maund) all the remainder part of my estate both real & personal but if my son Hardin Maund dies before he comes of the years of twenty one without lawful heirs then I give to my loving (cousin) William Sugg two Negro, a boy and a girl named Ben & Cloe; Item I give likewise to my loving wife all my household furniture to wit bed & pewter table chairs & c, I likewise lend her my two Negroes to wit ( ) & Hanna till my son Hardie Maund comes to the age of twenty one; I make ordain & appoint my trusty friend Robert Wright & my loving uncle Aquilla Sugg my whole & sole executors, signed William Maund, wit James Bozeman (Mark), David Mote (X), Murphry Howell.
