Hearny[?] Dclk [page 1] In the name of God Amen, The twenty third day of January in the year of our Lord one Thousand seven hundred thirty & six, I William Murphey of Edgecombe in ye province of North Carolina, being sick and weak in body, but of perfect mind & memory, thanks be given to God, Do make & ordain this my Last Will & Testament. Principally & first of all, I recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it, hoping through it merits douth[?] & paSsion of my Saviour Jesus Christ I have for pardon of forgiveneSs of all my sins, & to [bekonith?] everlasting Life; and my body I commit to ye earth to be directly interred at ye discretion of my Executors here after named; and as touching my worldly Estate I give & dispose of & same in ye following manner & form: First, I will, that all those debts & duties as I do owe in right or conscience to any person or persons shall be wole & truly contented & paid. Item, I give & bequeath unto My Daughter, Mary Murphey one hundred acres of Land Lying on ye South side of Gooch swamp, call'd Busby's Cabbin, one negro woman called Maria, one bed or bolstar & three Cows & calfs, to her & her heirs for ever. Item, I give & bequeath unto my Daughter, Martha Murphey my Plantation on ye South side of Gooch swamp containing Two hundred & forty acres, on negro Girl called Jude & her increase, one bed & furtiture, & three Cows & calves, & one sorrole mare branded with three shoes to her & her heirs for ever. Item, I give & bequeath unto my Daughter Esther Murphey one negro Girl called BeSs & her increase; one bed & furniture; & three cows & calfs, to her & her heirs for ever. Item, I give & bequeath my Mulatto Girl called Patience to be equally divided between my two daughters Martha Murphey & Esther Murphey or ye survivor of them. Item, I give & bequeath unto my kinsman William Hurst the hundred Acres of Land adjoining to Euleon Pollack's survey, formerly Land of for William Opice; to him and his heirs for ever. Item, I give & bequeath unto Joseph Bradshaw Two hundred acres of Land Lying on ye South side of Gooch swamp as mentioned by Patent, To himi & his heirs for ever. Item, I will that my Dearly beloved Wife Ann Murphey shall have ye sole use of my negroes, Jillak, Dick, Hannah & Tony and all other my personal Estate of whatsoever kind, during her naturall Life and abode upon my plantation where I now Live, and after her demise to be equally Divided between such of Children as shall then be alive. Item, I give & bequeath unto my Daughter Esther Murphey & her heirs for ever my Plantation where I now Live, sending unto my Loving wife Ann Murphey ye benefit & sole use thereof during her Life. Hereby nominating & appointing My Loving Wife Ann Murphey, and my friends John Edwards & Isaac Ricks, my Only Executors of this my Last Will & Testament.
