Edgecombe County, NC - Will of William Nicholson, 1728 ~~~~~~~~~~ Abstract of the Last Will and Testament of William Nicholson who died MAR/APR 1728 in Edgecombe (later Nash) County, North Carolina. Will dated 24 FEB 1728 Will proved 17 May 1728 ......unto my loving son William Nicholson the manor plantation and houses whereon I now live together with all houses and lands on western or westward side of the holly bush Branche excepting the new brick house which I shall hereafter direct and dispose of...after the decease of my loving wife Alice, ...... unto my loving son Thomas (Tom) Nicholson all my land on the Eastward side of the Holly Bush branch...my gunn called my short gunn. ......unto my sons George and Lemuel Nicholson all my land lying and being on the north side of the Gum Swamp Run in Princess Anne Co. to be divided in the manner following, that is to say, marking a line of trees from a place on the said land called the Cow Ponns unto another place called Little Run and that part of the land on the North side of said line, be it more or less I give unto my son Lemuel....and 0n the south side of said line, left it be more or less I give unto my son George...the true intent and meaning of this my last will and testament is that neither of said sons George and Lemuel Nicholson shall sell or dispose of any part of said land to any out of the name Nicholson and likewise that my son William, Thomas and John Nicholson Shall have privilege to drive on and off the said land their hoggs. .....unto my son John Nicholson a Negro named Fortune and my painted stock gun. .....unto my grandson Joshua Nicholson, the son of my William, the first child that my Negro girl Kate brings that lives to be twelve months old. .....unto my daughter Elizabeth my Negro girle called Kate. .....unto my daughter Anne Butte my Negro girle, Unity. .....unto my daughter Mary Langley a Negro boy. .....unto my daughter Abigaill, a Negro girle. .....unto my daughter Dinah a Negro girle. .....unto my daughters, Elizabeth, Abigaill and Sarah after the death of my wife Alice, the new brick house for all of them to live until they are married. .....wife Alice Nicholson...my executrix...my son William Nicholson my executor.
