Will of Thomas Norfleet
23 January 1745

In the Name of God Amen. I Thomas Norfleet of Edgcombe County in the Province 
of North Carolina knowen that it is apointed for all men to [Die] and callen 
to mind the mortely [mortality] of my Body do make this my last Will and 
Testament. First I comet my body to the Ground to be bured [buried] in 
Christen forme and my Sole to God that gave it and as for my Wourldly Goods as 
it hath pleased God to bless me with I dispose in maner and forme followen.

Item.  I give and bequeath to my well beloved sun Thomas three hundred ackers 
of Land beginen where I now dwell the lower part of the Track that I purchased 
of John Spears beginen at a red ocke [oak] at the uper Side of the old feld(?) 
Commonly Called Doles ... Thence strate across the creck [creek] to Conclude 
the Quanty to him.

Item.  I give and bequeath to my sun Marmaduk the other part of the Track 
where I now dwell to him and his heirs for ever.

Item.  I give to my sun Thomas half of the Track of land that I Hold at 
Coneter (?) to him and his heirs for ever.

Item.  I give to my other sun Marmaduk the other half of the land Track at 
Coneter to him and his heirs for ever.

Item.  I give to my sun Thomas three negers named Jemy and Jon and Conor to 
him and his heirs for ever and one silver punch boll and fore Cowes and Calves 
one feather bed and furniture a case of pistols and holsters and ... and one 
Large brass Citell [kettle] and a large new bibel.

Item.  I give to my sun Marmaduk three negers named Toeny and Bosen and Litel 
Jemey to him and his heirs for ever and one silver Tankard and fore Cowes and 
Calves and one feather bed and furniture and one Still and Sword and one Large 
ovel Tabel and one Large bibel. 

Item.   I give to my datter Sarath my neger garl called Ponros(?) and one Cow 
and Calf and one Silver Spoon.

Item.   I give to my datter Farbey [Phereby] my neger garl called Nan and one 
Cow and Calf and one Silver Spoon.

Item.  I give to my datter Susana my neger garl called Hanow [Hannah] and one 
Cow and Calf and one Silver Spoon.

Item.  I give to my datter Mary my neger garl called Isbell and one Cow and 
Calf and one Silver Spoon.

Item.   I give to my datter Elizbeth my neger garl called Geney and one Cow 
and Calf and one Silver Spoon.

Item.  I give my Carpenters Tools to be equely divided between my two suns 
Thomas and Marmaduk and six .... puter dishes apeace.

And all the rest of my Estate both Real and Personal I give to my well beloved 
wife Ruth and my will is that she shall keep the holle Estate in her hands 
till the Children comes of age or married and I do appoint my well beloved 
wife and my brother Marmaduk my hole and sole Executors of this my last will 
and I do revoke all other will and do name(?) this to be my last Will and 
Testament in witness I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 23 Day of 
January 1745.

The above Will was in open court proved by the Oaths of Rob't Hilliard and 
John Blount  Evidences thereto and Ruth Norfleet one of the Executors named 
therein Qualified as the Law Directs.
