Edgecombe County, NC - Wills - Elisha Owens-1817 File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Sharon This Owens Family we believe came from Isle Of Wight Co, VA. between 1790 and 1800 - its still a work in progress - Elisha & Amey ___ Owens are our ancesters thru their son Alpheus Owens and his wife Tempa/Temperance___ (we have no surname for her either) They had 12 children, and moved to Grainger Co. TN between 1835-37 - the last two children born in TN. Elisha Owens: Abstract of his will: 7 June 1817 Aug Ct., 1817 Bk E pg 156 Wife: Amey I lend 100 A plantation lying on the lines of Robert Owens, Thomas Jenkins, and Arthur Forbes on Harricanne Branch, reversion to son Elisha (not Elijah as misspelled in abtract vs. copy of original), also my tools, stock, chest, furniture. Elisha to receive mother's land at her death; dau Nancy, a chest. Remainder to be divided between sons: John, Ethelred, Robert and Alpha, and dau Nancy. Exr: John and Robert Owens.
