All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Tommy Colbert clycolbert@aol.com June 23, 2011, 1:59 pm Source: N C Archives Written: 1789 Permenter, James estate records 1789, petition of Margaret Permenter, widow of James Permenter, late of Edgecombe County, dec’d, stating that James, at the time of his death was possessed of a considerable personal estate and made his last will and testament on the 9th day of July 1789 and departed this life soon after without altering or revoking said will, James Permenter, his son was appointed one of his executors and took sole burden of the execution of estate, your petitioner and Joseph Pender, the other executor, relinquished their right of qualifying; said testator, James, made several bequests to his children and loaned to petitioner all the remaining portion of his estate “not before mentioned” during her natural life, (excepting) three negroes named Ben, Diniah & (Loudon) that she acknowledges that she has received but there were three head of horses, seven head of cattle, a quantity of leather {other personal items not listed here}, worth 150 pounds and upwards which have not been delivered to your petitioner and she asks court to issue a summons to said James Permenter, executor to appear before court on the next court (Feb 1795)and be required to deliver said items, signed Bl Baker for the Pltf.
