Trevathan and wife, Sarah Jane, William R. Price, Ellen Price, Joseph W. Price, and Lucy Price, the last four being minors and sue by their next friend, Phebe Price, files their petition for sale of land on the south side of Tar River adjoining the lands of William Daughtridge, Jesse Price, and others containing 65 acres which descended to the petitioners, children of Moses Price, except petitioner William C. Trevathan and court decreed that land should be sold at public auction, said auction was held 11 Jun 1855 at Rocky Mount at which sale Malachi Weston was last and highest bidder for $280 with Charles C. (Bonner) as surety, price was paid and deed is made by William C. Johnston, Clerk and Master to Malachi Weston, signed W.C. Johnston, 19 May 1857 and recorded in book 27, page 517. RECEIPT- I have this day received from Archelaus Braswell (commissioner) if the case of Catharine Exum by her guardian (pending) in the Court of Equity of Edgecombe County the following bonds which he has taken from the purchasers of the slaves mentioned in the petition and sold by him under a decree of the said court on the 7th day of April last, said bonds are filed with me as Clerk & Master of the said Court by virtue of a decree thereof. One bond executed by (W.T.) Lewis & Jesse N. Powell to him as (commissioner) for seven hundred & Fifty dollars $750) payable the 1st day of December 1857 & Bearing interest from April 7th 1857. One bond executed by W.T. Cutchin & Peter (Forbes) to him for six hundred & thirty dollars ($630) due & dated & bearing interest as the first bond. One bond executed by B.T. Pittman & Peter (Forbes) to him for eleven hundred dollars ($1100) due, dated & bearing interest as the above bonds. One bond executed by Wells Draughan & ( ) Laurence to him for eleven hundred & sixty three dollars ($1163) due, dated & bearing interest as the above bonds. One bond executed by Thomas ( ) & A. Braswell to (May) Exum for one hundred & fifty dollars ($150) dated 10th March 1855 & bearing interest from the date this bond was taken by the said Braswell from Peter Forbes in part payment of the purchase ( ) of (me) of the slaves, also one against the said executor payable to the said Braswell & by him ( ) for fifty fine 95/100 dollars bearing interest from (Jan) 1st 1856. This bond was one bond against B.T. Pittman for (one) hundred & ninety one 28/100 dollars payable to him bearing interest from the 13th of October 1856. One bond against Josiah Cutchin for one thousand & fifty nine dollars, payable to him, bearing interest from Oct 1st 1857. Tarboro Oct 22rd 1857. W.N. Johnston. Also recd (his ??)
