Edgecombe County, NC - Wills - Umphrey, (Humphrey) Robert-1761 File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Nancy Mann In The Name of God Amen, I, Robert Umphrey [sic] of Edgecomb [sic] County, being sick and weake [sic] in body, but of perfect sound sense and Memory, thanks be Given to Almighty God, do make and ordain, this, to be my Last will, and Testament, and first of all, I Recommend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God, that Gave it me, and my body to the Earth, from whence it Came, to be buried in a Decent, Christian Manner, at the Discretion of my Executors, hereafter Named, and touching my worldly Goods which it hath pleased God to bless me with, Dispose of in manner and form following, Item I give and bequeath to my Loving Wife Mathew [Matheis?] Umphrey [sic] one Negro wench called Dina and my Mullatto [sic] boy Named Micajah Reavil Item Also I lend to her all my Cattle that is my own and not Called my son Thomases Cattle also all my hogs that is not called Thomases and one breeding Mare and all my house hold goods and other Lumber shuch [sic] as tools & cider casks during her Widowhood or Life and her head of ___ Item I give to my son Thomas Umphrey [sic] one hundred acres of land more of less beginning at a white oake [sic] stoop ___ out of the Mill Creek and runing [sic] a Direct Course to my back line one horse bridle & Saddle and all my Cattle that is called his own and one Ewe and a lamb Item I give to my son Isum [sic] Umphrey [sic] ten pounds in Gold and silver Coin. Item I give to my son Robert Humphrey ten pounds in Gold and silver coin. Item I give to my son Matthew Humphrey the plantation whereon now I live omiting [sic] one hundred acres that I give before to my son Thomas. Item I Give to my sons Isum [sic] & Robert and my Daughters Elesy [sic], Mary and Patience all my Estate of what sort or kind what ever it be to be Equally Divided between them at the end of their Mother's Death or widowhood. Item I appoint and Ordain my Loving wife Mathew [sic] Humphrey and my trusty friend Joseph Howell my whole and sole Executors of this my Last Will and testament and my will and Desire is that my Exetr Joseph Howell take in to his hands the money to be given to my sons Isum [sic] and Robert and applyed [sic] to the use of taking up land for my two sons Isum [sic] and Robert. In Testament Whereof I have set my hand and affixed my seal this 20th day of March 1761.
