Written: 1761

 Whittinton, Richard, will date about Dec 9 1761, proved Mar Ct 1761; 
December 9th 1761 Then Came before me (Patine Cox) and made oath that 
Richard Whittinton Late of this county departed this life on the eight 
of this Instant and some time fefore his Departure (heard) the said 
Richard Whittinton make a (Virture) Will in the manner following that 
is to say that all his personal estate might by kept together to raise 
his children up on only that the money in (      ) Thomas hands might 
be kept for taking out of land upon Swift Creek which land he gave to 
his younger son Richd Whittenton.  Signed Macajah Thomas.  Edgecombe 
County March Court (1761).  The above instrument of writting was 
exhibited into open Court Macajah Thomas Esq as the Last Will & 
Testament of Richard Whittenton Decd (which) is allowed as a will and 
ordered to be recorded.  Test (Jams Hall) CC Ct.  NOTE: DATE OF 
DECEMBER 9 1761 IS CLEAR.  RECORDED DATE MARCH 1761 IS NOT CLEAR.  
COULD BE 1762 BUT OTHER WILLS IN SECTION ARE 1761.  Will Book A, page
