Williams, Henry Estate, 1801, PETITION FOR YEARS PROVISIONS, 25 Aug 1801, 
stating that she is the widow of Henry Williams, dec'd who died intestate, 
signed Jean Williams, approved by Amos Johnston and Elisha Battle, Thomas 
Deaver, Elijah Horn & Lamon Ruffin appointed commissioners to lay off 
provision.  

YEARS PROVISION laid off by commissioners for Mrs Jane Williams, widow of 
Henry Williams, dec'd, met on 17 Sept last and laid off "eleven midlings 
bacon", 30 lbs fatt, 1250 pds good fatted (meet) pork, "one three grass bee 
stear," 16 barrels (wt) corn, 50 pds (    ) flax, 200 pds seed cotton, 2 
sides leather, 13 pds wool, signed Lamon Ruffin, Elijah Horn (H), Thos 
Deaver, Elisha Battle. 

ORDER TO SHERIFF to have William Horn, Absalom Williams, administrators of 
Henry Williams, dec'd and Anderson Sturdivant appear before the Justices on 
the fourth Monday in Feb next to answer Briton Deloach of a plea that they 
render to him $300 silver of the value of 150 pds, wit Edward Hall, Clerk 
of Court, 23 Nov 1801, William Williams, Drucilly Williams, James Williams, 
Abishai Williams, Elizabeth L. Williams, infants under age, signed Jacob 
Battle, guardian for the purpose of this (rest cut off, probably cause).  
Marked on folder Deloach vs Williams & Sturdivant, adm.  ORDER TO SHERIFF 
to have James Bracewell, Jr and James Bracewell, Sr appear before Justices 
on the fourth Monday of August next to answer to William Horn & Absalom 
Williams, administrators of Henry Williams, dec'd, for the sum of 51 pds, 
10 shillings, signed Edward Hall, CC, 13 Aug 1802.  ORDER TO SHERIFF to have 
Absalom Williams and Joab Hiatt appear before Justices on the fourth Monday 
of Feb next to answer Thomas B. Horn, agent for James Williams, orphan of 
Henry Williams, dec'd in a plea of debt that they render to him the sum of 
$82.75 with damages of $25, signed Edward Hall, CC, 17 Feb 1817.   

ORDER TO SHERIFF to take 158 pds from the goods of Henry Williams, dec'd in 
the hands of William Horn & Absalom Williams and render to the said Deloach, 
administrators, and also 10 pds, 10 shillings and 6 pence, for costs, signed 
Edward Hall, CC, 1802.  

ORDER TO SHERIFF to have Williams W. Anderson and William Dancy appear before 
Justices on the fourth Monday in August next to answer William Horn & Absalom 
Williams, administrators of Henry Williams, dec'd in the sum of 35 pds, 2 
shillings, 6 pence, signed 24 May 182, Edward Hall, CC.  

PETITION FOR DOWER to Nov Ct 1801 by Jane Williams, stating that Henry Williams, 
her late husband died and she is entitled to dower in his land, being one  
tract on the north side of Cokey Swamp joining the Elijah Horn, Lemon Ruffin 
and Joseph Green, signed 26 Nov, 1801.  Marked "petition granted."  

DOWER LAID OFF for Jane Williams, widow of Henry Williams, dec'd, by order of 
Nov Ct 1801, of 474 acres with 1/3 laid off for widow, beginning at a water 
oak standing on the north side of Tyancoca Swamp then north 15 west 58 poles 
to a branch then up the various courses of said branch to a corner pine then 
north 13 west 52 poles along a line of marked trees to the center of a red oak 
& hickory then north 89 west 130 poles to a mulberry tree standing on the road 
then south 12 east 240 poles to the plantation to a black gum on the swamp 
then up the swamp, the various courses to the beginning, containing the upper 
part of the said lands including the dwelling house and out houses,9 Feb 1802, 
signed Jesse Brake (B), (D.W. Summeral), Jacob Nolly, Samuel Dew, Joel Battle, 
Simeon Horn (X), Gray Jordan, James Horn (X), (Jesse Carter), Anderson 
Sturdivant, Thos Deavers, Moses Price, above verdict taken before (Rich Sessums), 
Sheriff.  BOND of 200 pds by James Braswell, Jr, James Braswell, Sr and William 
Britt to Bythal Bell, Sheriff of Edgecombe County, dated 13 Aug (no year given), 
that they will appear before the Justices of next County Court on fourth Monday 
in August to answer unto William Horn and Absalom Williams, administrators of 
Henry Williams, dec'd of a plea that they render them 51 pds, 10 shillings 
"which from them they unjustly retained to their damage fifty pounds" and abide 
by judgement of court, signed James Braswell, James Braswell, William Britt.  
BOND of 100 pds each by William Anderson, William Dancy, SR and (blank), of 
Edgecombe Co to Bythal Bell, Sheriff, 16 Aug 1802, that they will appear before 
the Justices on the fourth Monday of this month to answer to William Horn, 
Absalom Williams, administrators of Henry Williams, dec'd of a plea that they 
render them 35 pds, 2 shillings, 6 pence which they unjustly (detains) to 
their damage 25 pds and to abide by judgement of Justices, signed Wm. Anderson, 
William Dancy, Garry Fort, F. Cotton, Sheriff. 


PETITION TO SELL SLAVE to Nov Ct 1813 by Seth Smith & (Priscilla or Drucilla), 
his wife, Henry Williams (NOTE: by his guardian, Josiah Horn written in but 
scratched out), James Williams by his guardian Josiah Horn stating that Henry 
Williams, the father of petitioners (Priscilla or Drucilla), Henry Williams 
& James Williams, died intestate and possessed of a small personal estate, 
including a slave named Sam, leaving petitioners and Jean Williams as his 
only heirs at law; said petitioners ask court to grant a sale of said Negro, 
Sam, in order that a division may be made.  Edgecombe Co estate,
