Written: 1760

 Williams, Phillis, will date 4 Jun 1760, proved (Dec Ct 1760); In the 
name of God Amen, This fourth day of June in the year of Our Lord 
Christ 1760 I Phillis Williams of the County of Edgecombe sick and weak 
of body but of perfect mind & memory... I give my soul into the hands 
of God who gave it and my bode I recommend to the earth to be buried at 
the discretion of my executor... Imprimis it is my will that all my 
just and lawful debts be paid and funeral charges; item I having 
advanced already according to my ability (I therefore) give him one 
shilling (& six pence) him and his for ever to my son John 
(             ). 
Item- I having advanced my son Robert Simons according to ability I 
therefore give him one shilling (          ) to him and his heirs for 
ever.  Item- I give and bequeath unto my son (Joseph Simm ) one 
shilling sterling to him and his heirs forever. 
Item- I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Wilkinson one shilling 
sterling to her and her heirs forever.  Item- I give and bequeath unto 
my daughter (Bessie P???) One shilling sterling to her and her heirs 
forever.  Item- I give and bequeath unto my daughter Martha Griffin my 
side saddle to her & her heirs forever.  Item- I give and bequeath all 
the (rest) of my estate to be equally divided between my two 
grandchildren, (Simon Simms & Patsy Simms) son and daughter of my son, 
(Joseph Simms) to them and their heirs forever.  And of this my will I 
make constitute nominate ordain and appoint my trusty and well beloved 
son (Joseph Simons) my whole and sole exer revoking and annulling all 
former wills by me heretofore made (          ) and confirming this and 
no other to be my Last Will and Testament in Testamoney whereof I have 
hereunto set my and affixed my seal the day and year first above 
written.  (Phillis ??)  Signed sealed published pronounced & declared 
by the sd Testator to be her Last Will and Testament in the presence of 
us (            ), (            ) (mark), (John Tully).  Edgecombe 
County December Inferior Court (176?).  This (within) will was in open 
Court exhibited and proved by the oaths of Jess Lee and Elizabeth Lee 
(witnesses) thereto and at the same time the (exot) was qualified 
according to law Iwhich) on motion is ordered to be (        ) and the 
will to be recorded.  NOTE: VERY HARD TO READ.  Will Book A, page 11.
