Henderson of Route 2, Graham, N.C. Mr. Cotton had been in failing health for two years, but his condition died not become critical until two days before his death. He was the son of the late James and Ann Savage Cotton, and a member of the Congregational Christian Church of Winston-Salem, N.C. When the mill at Dendron closed down some years ago, Mr. Cotton moved to Greensboro, N.C., where for ten years he engaged in the mercantile business. For the past several years he had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Henderson. Mr. Cotton was twice married. His first wife was Mrs. Tama James Cotton, his second Mrs. Nannie Connelly Cotton. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. S.P. Burgess of Dendron, Miss Bertha Cotton of Franklin, Mrs. I.I. Henderson of Graham, N.C., and Mrs. William T. Scott of Elon College, N.C.; two sons, W.J. Cotton of Valdese, N.C. and Ernest F. Cotton of Bluefield, W.Va.; one sister, Mrs. Maggie Dickerson of Dendron; one brother, David L. Cotton of Richmond; and eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services for Mr. Cotton were conducted at 11 o’clock Saturday morning from the Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington, N.C., with Rev. William J. Andes of Winston-Salem, Dr. William T. Scott of Elon College, Rev. O.L. Hathaway of Graham, and Dr. W.W. Wisseman of Greensboro officiating. Interment was in Green Hill Cemetery, Greensboro, N.C.
