She was born in Jonesboro, Tenn., September 4, 1854, the daughter of late J.F. and Rebecca Williams Deaderick. She spent her childhood days in that community, later marrying R.G. Glenn. She and her husband, who was then a prominent lawyer, came here in 1885. Mrs. Glenn was first lady of the State from 1905 until 1909 when her husband was Chief Executive of North Carolina. Here she made many friends with her simple Christian ways. She spent her later years in this city and was actively connected with the First Presbyterian Chruch as a member of the congregation and as a worker in the various missionary circles. Wright, friend of the deceased for the past forty years and who possibly knew her better than anyone 4else, says the following about Mrs. Glenn" "She was always deeply interested in the intellectual advancement of the community. Her home was always open to all religious conventions and ministers of all denominations at the same time adding greatly to the pleasure of her loved ones and friends socially. True Christian hospitality reigned supreme. She adherred to the simple tastes of life - her home, family, church and friends were the center of her heart's desire and sacred interest."
