July 8, 1805, Raleigh Minerva Written: June 10, 1805 Recorded: July 8, 1805 NOTICE OF SEPARATION Whereas, my wife, BARBARA, did, on the 29th of May last, make her elopement from my bed and board without any justifiable reasons and took with her a bond, myself vs. EPHRAIM CONYERS of eleven hundred and twenty-two dollars payable the 1st day of April last, with credit of four hundred dollars or upwards, thereon; also three Negroes, to wit: two fellows, on by the name of GREENWICK; the other by the name of DORMICK, and one Negro girl named AGGA. These are therefore to forewarn all persons against trading for said Bond or Negroes, or receiving any conveyance for them whatever, under the penalty of incurring the vigor of the law, in such cases made and provided. The Bond I have received nearly satisfaction for, and granted acquittances to that effect. I do further notify that I will pay no debts of her contracting, but on the contrary, will take all advantages (which I am by law entitled) against every person or persons that do in any wise contribute to her support, either by furnishing her with the necessities of life or otherwise.
