All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Beverly Watson beverly_wat@msn.com November 7, 2010, 10:52 am Written: July 8, 1826 Recorded: October 21, 1826 Deed Book 22, Page 161 8 July 1826 THIS Indenture made and entered into this the 8th day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty Six Between Peter Reaves of the first part and Mathew Medlin of the Second part and John Pate of the third all of the State of North Carolina and in the County of Franklin Witnesseth that whereas the said Peter Reaves Stands Justly indebted to the said Mathew Meadlin in the Sum of one hundred and Sixty five Dollars and Sixty five cents and -- his Bond bearing date the 8th of this Instant July which he the said Peter Reaves honestly desires to Secure and pay and in consideration thereof and in further consideration of the sum of one dollar to him in hand paid by the said John Pate before the Signing Sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt for which the said Sum is in virtue of these presents duly acknowledged & have bargained Sold and conveyed and by these presents have have (sic) bargained Sold and conveyed unto him the said John Pate the following property to wit one wagin four head of horses and to have and to hold the above mentioned property and every part thereof free and clear from the lawfull claim or claims of any person or persons whatsoever unto him the said John Pate and his Heirs and assigns forever upon trust nevertheless that the said John Pate or his Executors or Administrators Shall or may at any time after the first day of January next after the date hereof sell the aforesaid property to the highest bidder for ready money at such time and place as he the said John Pate or his Executors or Administrators or assigns may think proper after giving Twenty days notice at two or three public places of the time and place of sale and the money arising from Such Said Sale to be applied to the discharge of the aforesaid debt of one hundred and Sixty five dollars and Sixty five cents owed and owing to the said Mathew Medlin or So much thereof as may remain due and owing at the time of Such Sale and also the interest thereon together with the cost of advertising & recording this Instrument and all other costs accrueing by reason of these presents and to make and Execute a good and Su----- title in fee simple to the purchase thereof and the balance of the money arising from Such Sale if any to be paid to the Said Peter Reaves or to his orders (?) when applied for. In Witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and Seals the day and date above written.
