He had been in declining health for some time and during the past four or five months, was confined to his house. Mr. Hawkins we think was a native of Franklin county but had lived in Henderson fourteen years. He was Chief of the Census Bureau for this district in 1890 and was since connected with the Revenue department. He was a good citizen, loyal to his family and friends and his death is a loss to the community. The interment was at the family burying ground in Louisburg Saturday afternoon, the remains being accompanied by the family and a number of friends from this place. Deceased leaves a wife and seven children, three sons and four daughters, who have the sympathy of their friends in their sad bereavement.
