The Standard of Raleigh: Oct. 1, 1862
   DIED, in Franklin County, on the 18th inst., ERASMUS W., son of CAPT. P. 
NICHOLS, in the 11th year of his age.
   How insatiable is death! Not three months ago, he entered the same family 
circle, and plucked therefrom a tender bud, the sweet prattling, JEMMA.
   "RAS," as he was familiarly called, was a bright and lovely boy, possessing 
those qualities of mind and heart which rendered him universally loved.
