Obituary: Franklin Co, NC

Annie Wood Sledge, 84, died Wednesday, December 27, 1989 in Wake County. She 
was born August 12, 1905, daughter of the late Charlie and Alice Griffin Wood. 
She was a retired farmer and widow of the late Paul Alfred Sledge, Sr. 
   Surviving: sons Cleveland Sledge of Louisburg; Paul Sledge, Jr. of Spring 
Hope; daughter Annie Lee Woodard of Smithfield, NC; brothers J.L. Wood, Lee 
Wood, and Randolph Wood all of Spring Hope; sisters Virginia Fuller, Mary May 
both of Louisburg: Grace Boone of Middlesex; Alice Overton of Zebulon; Sallie 
Williams of Raleigh; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-
great grandchild.
   Funeral services will be at 2 pm. Saturday at Holly Grove Baptist Church 
with the Reverends Steve Griffith and Jack Burnette officiating. 
   The family will receive friends from 7-9 pm Friday night at Hunt-Murray 
Funeral Home in Spring Hope and at other toimes at the home of her son 
Cleveland Sledge, Route 5, Louisburg.
