We acknowledge ourselves indebted to the State of North Carolina in the sum of 
four hundred pounds to be void on condition that no lawful impediment shall 
hereafter appear to obstruct the marriage of Jeffrey Pearce and Adaline Falkner 
for whom a license issues the 23rd day of Dec. 1840. Burwell Perry, S. (or L)
