Franklin County, NC - Harbert H. Harris Will and Codicil ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ WILL of Harbert H. Harris Franklin Co., NC, Will Book P, p. 332 - 334. In the name of God: Amen: I Harbert H. Harriss of the county of Franklin and State of North Carolina being of sound mind do make this my last will and testament: 1st I lend to my daughter POLLY WEBB during her natural life and the natural life of her husband GEORGE W WEBB eight negroes (to wit) Tissu (?), and Hilow and her six children, (to wit), Dempsy, Gray, John, William, Theodore, and Alford, and their further increase, and after their death I give said negroes and their future increase equally to all the balance of my children that is now alive to them and their heirs forever, but if the said GEORGE W. WEBB should die before my said daughter POLLY my will is that my said daughter POLLY have the possession, right, and (tith?) to said negroes and their future increase during her natural life: 2. I give and bequeath to my son CYRUS HARRISS three negroes (to wit) Jordain and Mariah and her youngest child Asberry (?), and their future increase for him and his heirs forever: 3rd I lend to my daughter in law ARIANNAH T. HARRISS during her natural life or widowhood, the land that she now lives on, beginning at __ red oak at the west end of the lane between my fence and Leroy Jacksons, thence due west to Perry's line including the land I own north of that line bounded by the lands of Redding Perry ___ Jacob Jones ___and Leroy Jackson but whenever my daughter in law ARIANNAH T. HARRISS marry or dies I give said land equally to all my son PEYTON HARRISS' children to them and their heirs forever; I lend to my said daughter in law AREANNAH T. HARRISS (provided she not marry) until the first day of January One Thousand Eight Hundred Sixty Three six negroes (to wit) Helyard, Ansow, Caroline, Orra, Mary and Francy, and their future increase, and after the first day of January One Thousand Sixty Three, I give said negroes and their future increase equally to all my son PEYTON HARRISS' children to them and their heirs forever, but if my said daughter in law ARIANNAH T. HARRIS should marry or die before the first day of January One Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty Three said negroes and their future increase is to be hired out annually until the first day of January One Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty Three, and the proceeds of said hire to be equally divided between all my son PEYTON HARRISS' children, and as soon after the first day of January One Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty Three as may be convenient, said negroes and their future increase is to be equally divided between all my son PEYTON HARRISS' children; 4th I give and bequeath to my son WASHINGTON HARRISS three negroes (to wit) (N--bth), Andrews, and Delia and their future increase and one note I hold against him with Abram Mosy security made payable to me as security of Green Ross ___ and dated the 28th January 1839 to him and his heirs forever: 5th I give and bequeath to my daughter LIVINIA WEBB six negroes (to wit) Susan, Alfred, Alben, and Ellen and her two children (to wit) Dolphin and Davy, and their future increase to her and her heirs forever; 6th I give and bequeath to my son JEFFERSON HARRISS the land that he now lives on, beginning at a stake in the bottome betwen my fence and his thence west a marked line to two hickorys and on (forward?) in Perry's line, thence South Perrys and Lankfords line to Brodies line, thence Brodies line to a dogwod at or near the fork of the road thence the road to the first station and three negroes (to wit) Danmeon, Catherine and Sam and their future increase to him and his heirs forever: 7th I give and bequeath to my son Haril Harriss the land that he now lives on including all the land I own between the road from Louisburg to Andrews Bridge and the Cypress Creek and four negroes (to wit) George and Adaline, and her two children (to wit) Celestia and Alger (?) and their future increase to him and his heirs forever: 8th I give and bequeath to my daughter Martha Ann Mann, four negroes (to wit) Gray, Davy, Long (?), and __(?) and their future increase to her and her heirs forever: 9th All the ballance of my land that I have not already disposed of I loan jointly to my wife NANCY HARRISS and my son CYRUS HARRISS, during the natural live of my wife NANCY, and after her death I give said land to my son CYRUS HARRISS to him and his heirs forever. 10TH I lend to my wife NANCY HARRISS during her natural life five negroes (to wit) Nelson, Charlotte, Dolphin, Louisa and her childe Allen and their future increase, and after her death I dispose of said negroes as followeth: to wit, 1st I give the woman Charlotte to my son CYRUS HARRISS, to him and his heirs forever: 2nd I give the woman Louisa and her child Allen and their future increase to my son WASHINGTON HARRISS to him and his heirs forever: 3rd I give to my son JEFFERSON HARRIS the man Dolphin to him and his heirs forever: 4th I give to my son HARIL HARRISS the man Nelson to him and his heirs forever: 11th All the ballance of my property and effects of every kind after paying my debts I lend to my wife NANCY HARRISS during her natural life, and after her death I wish it all sold, and the proceeds of such sale to be equally divided between all my children, and my son PEYTON HARRISS' children, that is my son PEYTON HARRISS' children is to have the eigth part: 12th I nominate and appoint my son CYRUS HARRISS executor to this my last will and testement, in testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fifth day of August One Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty Three: The letter W. and the word 'my' before signed: Harbert H.
