Franklin County, NC - Will of William Jackson Senior, 1805 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Last Will and Testament of William Jackson Franklin County North Carolina 24 September 1805 I, William Jackson Senior of the County of Franklin, State of North Carolina, being weakly in body but of sound mind and memory thanks be to almighty God, calling to mind the mortality of Body, I knowing that it is appointed once for all men to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament. (Viz) Principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul unto the hand of Almighty God that gave it, and my body I recommend to the earth, to be buried in a decent Christian Burial at the discretion of my Executors, nothing doubting, but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God. If and as counting such worldly estate, wherein it has pleased God to bless me within this life, I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form. Item 1st. I give and bequeath unto my granddaughter, Dissy Curry, one feather bed and furniture, which bed and furniture my wife Sarah Jackson died in possession of. Item 2nd. I give and bequeath to my son John Jackson my negro woman Bertha with her increase after the first day of July, 1802. Item 3rd. I give and bequeath to my daughter Susannah Curry, my negro boy Nelson. Item 4th. I give and bequeath to my son Julius Jackson my negro boy Moses and one third part of my estate. Item 5th. I give and bequeath to my daughter Martha Hunt my negro girl Easter and her increase. Item 6th. I give and bequeath to my son William Jackson and my daughter Polly Stallings and my son Josiah Jackson five shillings each. Item 7th. My desire and will is that my negro women Grace and Tolla be sold and the money to be applied to the discharge and payment of the expenses following for and recovering of the above mentioned negros, Bertha, Nelson, and Moses and Tilla and the balance of any after paying the said expenses to be equally divided among all my children herein mentioned and do hereby constitute and appoint my son John Jackson my only and sole executor of this my last will and Testament and do hereby utterly, disallow, revoke, and dismiss all and every other Testaments (and) wills, bequeaths and encumbers, by me in any manner before willed and bequeathed, and ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament.
