Entered railway service in 1886 as clerk in auditor's office Richmond & 
Danville Rd, and two months later entered transportation department;
1886 to 1888, freight conductor Western North Carolina division same road;
1888-1889, brakeman St. Louis Arkansas & Texas Ry and other roads;
1889 to 1890, passenger conductor Knoxville Cumberland Gap & Louisville Rd;
1890 to 1891, traveling freight and passenger agent same road;
1891 to Aug. 1, 1895, traveling passenger agent Richmond & Danville Rd 
and Southern Ry;
Aug. 1, 1895 to April 1, 1899, district passenger agent Southern Ry 
at Philadelphia; 
April 1, 1899 to Sept. 1, 1901, Pacific Coast passenger agent same road 
at San Francisco;
Sept. 1, 1901 to Aug. 15, 1904, assistant general passenger agent Mobile 
& Ohio Rd;
Aug. 15, 1904 to Oct. 1912, general passenger agent same road.
