Wilson Reid / Old Gaston Cemetery

Gaston County, NC

On June 29 , 2001 there is a town meeting to vote to move this cemetery to 
make way for a Local Buisness to be built in the town of Lowell NC. From 
Gastonia take highway 7 east to the town square in Lowell turn right on  S. 
Main St. take first left, first right and first left this is Segle St. 
Cemetery is located about 250 feet on right. Cemetery contains several broken 
stones unreadable. Most of the info came from documents gathered by Bill 
Hoffman in his research at the Gaston Co. Court house included in deed and 
will of Leroy L. Wilson who was owner of the cemetery and Deed holder at the 
time the cemetery was established.

This Cemetery is the oldest cemetery in the town of Lowell it was started 
before the town was formed. As Listed June 29 2001 vote on grave yard removal. 
Cemetery as listed on Wilson deed 1/2 acre known as the old Gaston Cemetery.
