GASTON COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Charles Anderson (Dad) Jones ----¤¤¤¤---- Note: The newspaper obituary does not have a date but at the top in the border of the newspaper is typed: picture taken April 22, 1951. [This statement is outside the borders of the newspaper and not part of obituary, but manually typed.] Charles Anderson (Dad) Jones died at his home, 306 south Oakland street, Sunday at 3 p.m. He had been in declining health for about two years and seriously ill for five days. He was born August 7, 1878 in Orange county and had made his home in Gastonia for 25 years. He worked for the city garage from the time it opened until it closed. He worked as head mechanic at Jim Wilson's garage until his health failed. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Janie Hand Jones; one son, Frank A. Jones of Charlotte; three daughters, Mrs. Marian J. Reaves of Wagran, Mrs. Lindsey Bratt of Goldsboro, and Miss Louise Jones of the home; and five grandchildren. Funeral services were to be held Monday morning at 10 o'clock at Carothers Chapel. Dr. V. Ward Barr was to officiate, assisted by the Rev. Earl Armstrong.
