Obituary:
Taken from the Gastonia Gazette, Monday, January 28, 1974: 

OLIVER WATSON RICHMOND 
Bessemer City - Oliver Watson Richmond, 98, of 615 E. Louisiana Ave. died at 
6:30 p.m. Friday in a Rutherfordton nursing home.  He was a native of West 
Virginia and a retired farmer. 

He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Leonard Carpenter, Bessemer City, Mrs. 
Charles Carrier of Hammond, Ind. and Miss Joline Richmond, Charleston, West 
Va.;  one son , Thomas Richmond of Batobia, Ill.; six grandchildren and one 
great-grandchild. 

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Sisk Funeral Home in  
Bessemer City, with the Rev. Dennis Elder officiating. Burial will follow in 
Memorial Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. 
  


Additional Comments:
The son Thomas Richmond was living in Batavia, Illinois, not Batobia as listed 
in the obit.
