GASTON COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Mary Frances "Mollie" Milstead Stafford Styne, 13 Jul 1947 ----¤¤¤¤---- Obituary Notice for Mary Frances "Mollie" Milstead Stafford Styne with Notes by Suzzette G Yandle 25 March 2004 Obituary for Mrs. Mollie M. Styne Belmont.- MRS. MOLLIE MILSTEAD STYNE, 68, for 23 years a resident of Belmont, the widow of W.W. Styne, died at noon Sunday at the home of her son, Willie Styne, with whom she had been living the last five years, in Chester, S.C. Funeral services have been scheduled for 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in the chapel of Fite Funeral Home, Belmont, the body to remain at the funeral home until after the service there. Rev. R. G. Mace of Catawba will officiate. Interment will be in Goshen Grove cemetery, North Belmont. A native of Alexander county, she was born May 31, 1879 and was a daughter of Milton Milstead and Martha Lena Eckerd Milstead. For some reason, there was not a death certificate made for her in SC at the time of her death. In 1992 a "Delayed Death Certificate" was filed for her in Chester Co SC and can be now found on file in the Office of Vital Records and Department of Health Statistics S.C., Dept of Health and Environmental Control under the name Mary "Molly" Frances Milstead Styne. · Mollie first married Ed Stafford in Alexander Co NC on 25 Feb 1900. Ed is also known as William L. Stafford, BUT ALWAYS used the name Ed Stafford. · After Mollie and Ed's divorce, she married W.W. Stine. · Ed Stafford married 2nd to Amanda Childers on 07 March 1903. · Ed Stafford died 24 July 1945 in Forsyth Co NC and is buried in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Taylorsville, Alexander Co NC; Ed and Amanda and their children are also buried there. · Mollie changed the spelling of her married name to STYNE · Mollie's mother is a.k.a. Martha Selena Clarissa ECHERD; she went by the name Lenie. · Mrs. George Hooker is Ollie Mae Stafford, Mollie and Ed's only child, who married under her mother's maiden name MILSTEAD to George Riley Hooker, Jr in Salisbury, Rowan Co NC on 24 Sept 1916. · Mrs. Etta Little was the widow of Solomon Little of Alexander Co NC. Solomon died 19 Dec 1918. She moved to Belmont, Gaston Co NC to help with her niece Ollie Mae Stafford Hooker to care for Ollie's husband George who was sick from the effects of being gassed in WWI and to help take care of Ollie and George's children. · Mollie's five unidentified grandchildren listed in her obit were: 1)Pattie Martha, 2) George Riley III, 3)Helen Clarine, and 4) Jack Hendrix Hooker, children of Ollie and George R Hooker, Jr.; and 5) Patricia Ann Styne the daughter of William "Willie" Milton Styne and Helen Marybelle nee Carter. · Mollie's three Great Grandchildren unidentified in her obit were: 1) Paul J. Jr, 2) Martha L, and 3) Michael A., the children of Pattie Martha Hooker Frazier and Paul Jennins Frazier. · RE: W.W. Stine; this researcher has very little information on him. Sometimes his name shows up as William M. Stine. I would like to confirm the correct name for him. Please if anyone knows something of this man, I would appreciate the information. I believe I remember my Mother saying he remarried and repaired machinery in the Cotton Mills.
