Surprise Marriage.
Miss Lucile Moore of Gastonia Becomes the Bride of Mr. Orestes P. Rhyne, Also 
of Gastonia But now a Student at Johns Hopkins University.
Special to The Observer.
Gastonia, Oct. 1-A wedding, which came as a surprise to many Gaston people was 
solemnized Wednesday morning at 7 o'clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob 
Jenkins, near Stanley Creek, in the upper part of the county, when their 
granddaughter, Miss Lucile Moore, became the bride of Mr. Orestes P. Rhyne of 
Gastonia. Mr. Rhyne is taking a postgraduate course in German at Johns Hopkins 
University, Baltimore, and he and his bride left immediately for the city, 
only stopping at Lynchburg, Va., a day or two to visit relatives. The bride is 
a daughter of Mr. C. J. Moore but has for the past several years been living 
with her grandparents. Mr. Rhyne is a graduate of Lenoir College, Hickory, and 
of the University of North Carolina, having taken his A. M. degree at the 
latter. He was principal for a year or two of the high school at Stanley. His 
a son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter S. Rhyne of Gastonia.
