GASTON COUNTY, NC - WILLS - John Rhyne, 19 Jun 1865 ----¤¤¤---- Transcription of the Will of John Rhyne (1783-1865) Transcribed by: Donna Finnerty Rhyne Checked by: George Trenton Rhyne 24 August 2002 Raleigh, NC The original is handwritten in black ink on both sides of a gray-blue, legal- sized sheet of paper, and on file in the Gaston County Wills archival boxes at the State of North Carolina Archives in Raleigh, NC. I John Rhyne of the county of Gaston & State of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence do make and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following. That is to say - First - That my executors herein after named shall provide for my Body a decent burial suitable to the wishes of my relatives and friends and pay all funeral expenses together with my just debts howsoever and to whomsoever owing out of the monies that may first come into their hands as a part or parcel of my estate. Item - I will to my son David Rhyne my land on which he lives having already made him a Deed to it- also all the property heretofore given him. Item - To my Daughter Barbra Abernathy I will all the property heretofore given her. Item - To my son Thomas I will all that I have given him being seventy five dollars worth of Tools and his own Time at seventeen years of age. Item - To my son Joseph I will the seven hundred and twenty five dollars given him to pay for his land and all the property heretofore given him. Item - To my son John - I will all that I have given him being one hundred and fifty dollars and his Time at eighteen years of age also the price of a bed that he has received. Item - To my son George I will one half of the Alexander land on which he now lives. Item - To my son Eli all the property heretofore given him being a horse and saddle and a negro boy. Item - To my Daughter Sarah Springs I will all the property received by her. Item - To my Daughter Ann Lineberger I will all the property heretofore received by her. Item - To each of my Daughters above named I will a bed and bed clothing. Item - My will and desire is that all the remainder of my estate both real and personall shall be sold at public out cry and shall be equally divided between all my children share and share alike to them and each and every of them their executors Administrators and assigns absolutely forever. And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my son David Rhyne and my friend Wm T Shipp my lawful executors to all intents and purposes to execute this my last Will and Testament acording to the true intent and meaning of the same and every part thereof hereby revoking & declaring void all other Wills and Testaments by me heretofore made.
