Revolutionary Soldier

     Revolutionary soldier, SAMUEL WILLIAMS, a native of Gates County, N. C., 
was born in 1762. While living in Gates, he enlisted in CAPTAIN WEST HARRIS' 
Company. He was made an orderly sergeant under CAPTAIN JAMES ALSTON and was 
later a cornet. He served until the end of the War, and then moved to Wilson 
County, Tenn., from which he applied for and was granted a pension. He married 
RUTH DAVIDSON. He died in Wilson County in 1840.
