WAVERLY – Lonnie Edward Blanchard, 78, of Waverly, died Friday in Louise 
Obici Memorial Hospital.
  A native of Gates County, N.C., he had been a resident of Waverly for the 
past 10 years. He retired in 1964 as an electrician with Newport News 
Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Co. and was a member of Waverly Baptist Church.
  Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Annie Mae Magee Blanchard; four sisters, 
Mrs. Lloyd M. Wiggins of Sunbury, N.C., Mrs. Frank L. Brinkley of Suffolk, 
Mrs. Fernando R. Chappell of Elizabeth City, N.C., and Miss Sallie Mae 
Blanchard of Hertford, N.C.; two brothers, Emmitt C. Blanchard of Portsmouth 
and Herbert L. Blanchard of Sunbury.
  A funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Purviance Funeral Home, 
Wakefield, by the Rev. G.L. Blackwell.
  Burial will be in Wakefield Cemetery.
  The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions 
to the Waverly Rescue Squad.

WAVERLY – A funeral for Lonnie Edward Blanchard of Waverly, who died Friday,
