W. BOOTHE DEATH COMES TO GATES CITIZEN J. W. Boothe, 85, Confederate Veteran and Widely-Known Resident Dies In His Home Near Drum Hill. J.W. Boothe, aged 85, died at his home near Drum Hill, N.C., last night at 10 o'clock. He is survived by a sister, Miss Anne Boothe, of Drum Hill; two daughters, Miss Jennie Boothe, Drum Hill, and Mrs. Claude Rountree, of Norfolk, and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Boothe was a Confederate veteran and is thought to have been the last one residing in Gates County. Funeral services will be held at his late home near Drum Hill Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, and will be conducted by the Rev. J.S. Maxey, of Whaleyville. Interment will be in the family cemetery.
