Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock at the I.O.Hill Funeral Home in Suffolk with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Survivors include a son, J. Floyd Briggs of Franklin and a daughter, Mrs. Elsie B. Luke of Suffolk; two grandchildren, J.F. Briggs Jr., of Franklin and Beverly Jean Luke of Suffolk; and a great-granddaughter of Franklin. JAMES AARON BRIGGS THE TIDEWATER NEWS – 02-02-1961, SECT.1, P. 3 James Aaron (Daddy) Briggs, 80, died Monday at 4 a.m. at Raiford Memorial Hospital after a week’s illness. A native of Gates County, N.C. he was the son of the late William Allen and Mrs. Cornelia Hobbs Briggs. He was the widow of Mrs. Pattie Howell Briggs and a member of Franklin Baptist Church. A resident of Suffolk for 25 years, he lived in Franklin for 19 years. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Maurice Luke of Suffolk; a son, J. Floyd Briggs of Franklin; two sisters, Mrs. W. M. Blanchard and Mrs. V.D. Hollowell of Suffolk; two brothers, G.C. Briggs of Suffolk and Allen Briggs of Hobbsville, N.C.; two grandchildren, James Floyd Briggs Jr. of Franklin and Beverly Jean Luke of Suffolk and one great-grandchildren, Nancy Garrell Briggs of Franklin. A funeral service was conducted Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. in I.O Hill Funeral Home if Suffolk by the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins, pastor of Franklin Baptist Church and the Rev. Tucker G. Humphries, pastor of Franklin Christian Church. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk. Pallbearers were Dr. Darden W. Jones, Ruel T. Blythe, Felton Johnson, William T. Jones, O.M. Blanchard, J.C. Harry, Jr., J.J. Felton and B.M.
