ESTHER JANE MATHIAS BRINKLEY

SUFFOLK – Sept. 20 – Mrs. Esther J. Brinkley, widow of J.B. Brinkley, died 
at her home near Corapeake, N.C., Friday morning at 1 o’clock after a brief 
illness, aged 73. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. C.C. Deans, of 
Hodges Ferry and five sons, J.W. Brinkley, of Corapeake, L.C. Brinkley, 
Hodges Ferry, L.R. Brinkley of Norfolk, D.L. Brinkley of Portsmouth, and 
J.P. Brinkley, Jr., of Cypress Chapel; 8 grandchildren and several nieces 
and nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock 
at the residence near Corapeake by the Rev. B.O. Merritt. Burial will be in 
the family cemetery near Corapeake.
