R.N. Knight, pastor of Zion Methodist Church and the Rev. J.L. Walter Moose, pastor of Gatesville Baptist Church. Burial will be in the family cemetery. The body was taken to the Rountree and Hofler Funeral Home. Mrs. Carter, 84, died yesterday at 2:40 p.m. at her home near Gatesville after a long illness. She was a native of Gates County, a member of Zion Methodist Church, and wife of C.E. Carter. She was a daughter of Willis and Mrs. Mary Hayes. Surviving are three sons, Horace and Edward Carter, both of Gatesville, and Stanley Carter of Suffolk, Va.; two daughters, Mrs. LeRoy Hofler of Gatesville and Mrs. W.H. Hofler of Hobbsville; nine grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren.
