BEATRICE FRANKLIN POWELL

   CORAPEAKE, N.C. – A funeral service for Mrs. Beatrice Franklin Powell was 
conducted Monday at 3 p.m. in Parkers Methodist Church, Corapeake, N.C. by 
the Rev. Evander Parnell and the Rev. Robert D. Fridley. Burial was in 
Parkers Church Cemetery with Rountree & Hofler Funeral Home, Gatesville, 
N.C. in charge.
   Pallbearers were B.B. Franklin, William Franklin, Vernon Beamon, 
Blackwell Powell, Irving Perry, Samuel Lee Morgan, Stanwood Winslow and 
Richard Jones.
   Mrs. Powell, 84, died Sunday at 1 a.m. in a Norfolk hospital.
   A lifelong resident of Gates County, N.C., she was a member of Parkers 
Methodist Church and a charter member of its Woman’s Society of Christian 
Service.
   She was the widow of Willis Warren Powell Sr. and a daughter of the late 
Benjamin and Mrs. Martha Brinkley Franklin.
   Surviving are four sons, Ferrell F. Powell of Franklin; Benjamin E. 
Powell of Durham, N.C.; Willis W. Powell of Virginia Beach; and Curtis 
Powell of Corapeake, N.C.; two daughters Mrs. Margaret Brooks of Charlotte, 
N.C. and Mrs. Mildred Russell of Lexington, N.C.; a sister, Miss Erden 
Franklin of Franklin; 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
