Her reason for going to N.C. to teach was that the state paid more money than Ga. did at that time. Also I remember her talking about at one time GA did not allow women to teach in the school system, or maybe it was a County issue. She made a great friend at the Eure School and remained friends with her and her husband until the friends passed away, just a few years back. Their names were Walter and Elsie and I think Elsie is one of the women in the photos. Cannot remember the last name. My mother died in 2000 at age 93 and my father just died in October at 98. He was still driving and keeping house until a few days before he died. My mother taught in NC from about 1926, the year she graduated until she married my father in April 1932. She then came back to GA and did not teach again until about 1945/46. The photos of Hastings School I never remember hearing her talk about, it was mostly the Eure School.
