Gates County, NC - Will of William Eason, 1781 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Last Will and Testament of William Eason Carolina Gates County. In the Name of God Amen, I William Eason of the County and State of being Sick of Body tho of Sound and Disposing Mind and memory and Calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that is appointed once for all men to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner I own following Viz Item I give and bequeath unto my well loved wife the third part of the Plantation wheron I now dwell during her widowhood and after her marriage or Death to be Eqally between my three Sons Frederick, Hardy and Solomon Eason to them and their Heirs for ever. Item I Give and Bequeath unto my well beloved wife my Negro woman Rose During her widowhood or Life and after her marriage or Death to be Equally Devided between my three sons before mentioned she and her Increase to them and their Heirs forever. I give and bequeath unto my beloved Son William Eason a Negro Boy called Samboe to him and his heirs forever. Item I bequeath unto my well beloved Daughter Mary Eason my Negroe Girl Called Lucy She and her Increase to her and her heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sary Perry my Negroe Girl Called Venus She and her Increase to her and her heirs forever. Item I give and Bequeath unto my three Sons Viz Frederick, Hardy and Solomon Eason my other Two Negroes Called Hannah and Crummel to be Equaly Divided among them and their Heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my well beloved daughter Mary Eason one feather bed and furniture. All the rest and residue of my Estate I leave equally to be Devided between my wife and Six children hereafter named Viz William, Sarry, Mary, Fardrick, Hardy and Solomon Eason. I also do ordain and appoint that Abraham Eason and Mordeciah Perry be whole and Sole Exor of this My Last Will and Testament in Witness Whereof I have put my hand and seal. Signed, Sealed and Published in the Presence of we the Subscribed Witnesses herd the written will, Arch & Will King, Samuel Green January 15, 1778 January the 17th, 1781 the Desposition of William King and Samuel Green is as followeth there Deponants have this day made oath before me the Justice of the Peace for County of Gates that on the 15th Instant they was called upon by William Eason due to sign his Last Will and Testament as witnesses the said William Eason was very sick and there Deponant say that they believe that this said Eason at that time in his proper senses and after the will was written read to him the said William Eason acknowledged it to be his Last Will and Testament and arose up to sign it but said that he could not see lay down again and after laying down some short he rose the second time they perceived that that he was adying and they said him down and he the said William Eason dyed without Signing of the will and further sayeth not sworn before me Joseph Riddick, JP State of North Carolina, Gates County for February Superior Court of Pleas ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
