Gates County, NC - Will of Levi Eason, 1805 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Last Will and Testament of Levi Eason In the name of God Amen I Levi Eason of Gates County of North Carolina being at this time in a weak state of body but of a sound mind and memory and having a mind do dispose of this my worldy property which it hath pleased God to bless me with do make this my last Will and Testament in the following manner of form. Viz I give and beqeath to my loving wife Grace Eason the whole of my plantation & londerments thereon I know live or building or (?) likewise all the remains part of my land and her natural life I give to my loving wife all my negroes that I am now possess for her natural life likewise all my cattel and pigs one mare & one horse for her life and after her death my grandson Frederick Eason for the use of the plantation after he is one and twenty years of age. Viz I give and bequeath to Susannah Sumner one feather bed & furniture and all the ? that is in the house wherein she now lives for her natural life if she will live by herself or with but her husband likewise one trunk that is in the house and not to be carried out for her natural life and at her decease to be give to my grandson Levi Sumner. Viz I give and give to my grandson Levi Sumner a tract of land beginning at the walnut tree at my spring runnin a strate line to a corner pine in (?) of the drinking spring branch in (?) Hobbs line the part of the land lying on the east side of the plantation. I likewise give to my grandson Levi Sumner two negros one by the name of Ned & the other by the name of Diner & not to be distributed off the plantation if my grandson should die without a lawful ear for the land and negros to be returned to my grandson Frederick Eason after the death of my daughter Susannah Eason if dwells on the land whereon she now dwells. Viz I give and bequeath to my Daughter Mary King a tract of land on the North Side of the swamp so called the Hobbs land her natural live and after her decease unto my grandson A.J. King & (?)I give to my Daughter Mary King one negro wench by the name of Cherry to her & her heirs begoten of her body likewise I give unto my daughter Mary King one negro Girl by the name of Hager & her increase from this day to her & her heirs begoten of her body forever----Viz I give to my grand Daughter Grace King one negro Girl by the name of Anna and if the said Anna King should die without a lawful Eare for the said negro to return to my grand daughter Christian King to her & her heirs begoten of her body forever. Viz I give unto my grandson Frederick Eason a tract of land beginning at a (?) line at my spring & running a strate line to a corner pine in the head of the drinking spring branch in Henry Hobbs line. The part of the land lying on the west side of my plantation, likewise I give to my grandson Frederick Eason one negro girl by the name of Cherry & one negro man by the name of Jess & for them not be moved of the plantation nor the land nor the land rented out but for them to stay and work thereon likewise I give to my grandson Frederick Eason one feather bed & furniture & one chest that is in the other house and likewise the laurel funiture that is in the house whereon I now live. Likewise two sows & pigs likewise one cow & calf to my daughter Susanna Sumner and one to my grandson Frederick Eason. After the death of my wife likewise I give to my grandson Frederick Eason a twenty dollar note that I have of Mills Field. Viz I give to my grandson Frederick Field & Levi Sumner a tract of land lying in the white oake (?) to be equally divided between them running a line from North to South & my grandson Frederick Eason to have the east side. Lastly I nominate and appoint my loving wife Gracie Eason & my friend Edward Only my sold Executors to this my last will & Testament divining them to see the same fully executed according to the true intent and meaning thereof.
