(Oct. 1998) Mary Hare, Sept. 22, 1780 In the Name of God Amen. I Mary Hare widow of Edward Hare deceased of Gates County in North Carolina being very sick and weak but of Perfect mind and memory thanks be Given unto God Calling unto mind the mortality of my Body and knowing that it appointed for all men one to die do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament that is to say Principally and first of all I Give and Recommend my Soul unto the Hand of Almighty God that gave it and my body I Recomend to the Earth to be Buried in a decent Christian Burial at the Discretion of my Executors noting doubting but at the General Resurection I shall Receive the same again by the Mighty Power of God and as Touching such worldly Estate wherewith it has Pleased God to Bless me with in this Life I Give Demise & dispose of the same in the following manner and form. Imprimis I Give and Bequeath to my Son John Hare one Negro woman named Mol to him and his Heirs forever allso I give to my Son John Hare one Barrell of Brandy Allso I Give to my Granson Duke Hare my feather bed and all the furniture belonging to it. Allso I Give to my Daughter Ann Scot one negro moman named Beet to her and her Heirs forever Also I Give to John Miller of the same County one feather bed and furniture allso I Give to him one cow and calf and one Ew and Lamb Allso I Give to my Grandaughter Margret Scot my Linen Weel that Bell maid Also I Give to the Heirs of my Daughter Christian West desd five shillings good and Lawfull money Also I Give to the Heirs of my Daughter Mary Burges desd five shillings of Good and Lawfull money Allso I Give to the Heirs of my Son Bryan Hare Decd five shillings of Good and Lawfull money Also I give to my Grandaughter Margret Scot one small Trunk Also I Give to my Son Thomas Hare all the remainder part of my Estate not Given to him and his Heirs forever Also I do make and appoint my Two Sons John Hare & Thomas Hare executors to this my Last Will and Testament made this Twentysecond day of September in the year of our Lord Christ one Thousand Seven Hundred Eighty Mary (seal) Hare Signed Sealed and Pronounced and Declared to be her Last Will and Testament in the Presence of us Joseph Speight Henry Speight Mary Shephard Ester (her mark) Jinkins February Court 1788 exhibited and proved by the oath of Joseph Speight
