Gates County, NC - Will of Jacob Morris, 1913 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Will of Jacob Morris North Carolina Gates County I Jacob Morris of the County and State aforesaid, being of sound memory, but realizing the uncertainty of life, do make and declare this to be my last Will and Testament. First: My Executrix hereinafter named, is hereby directed out of my personal estate, to provide for my burial, suitable to the wishes of my friends and relatives and including a marble headstone on which shall be engraved my name and the date of my birth and death. Second: I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Missouri A. Morris my entire household and kitchen furniture including beds, chairs, tables, cooking utensils &c &c. Third: I give to my beloved wife Missouri A. Morris during the term of her natural life only, so much of the premises where we now live, including the dwelling and out buildings and so much of the said farm as may be necessary for her maintainance and support. Fourth: I give and devise to my son W. B. Morris the tract of land on which we now live, subject to the life estate of my said wife as devised in a former item of this my last Will, to have and to hold to him and his heirs and assigns in fee simple forever, said tract of land is bounded on the North by the Roberts land; on the East by the public road leading from Robert's Fork to Bond's Landing and by the land of Isaac Eure; on the South by Bennetts Creek and on the West by the said Roberts land and containing two hundred and fifty (250) acres more or less. Fifth: My will and desire is that all the residue of my personal estate such as stock, crops, farming implements &c, shall be sold by public auction and the proceeds therefromafter paying burial expenses as above indicated, shall be equally divided and paid over to my said wife Missouri A. Morris my son W. B. Morris and my daughter Harriet A. Carter now the wife of J. N. Carter, in equal proportion share and share alike. Sixth: I hereby constitute and appoint my beloved wife Missouri A. Morris my lawful executrix to all intents and purposes to execute this my last Will and Testament according to the true intent and meaning thereof hereby revoking and declaring utterly void all other Wills heretofore made by me. In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 28th day of July 1913.
