Gates County, NC - Will of Joseph Parker, 1789 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Joseph Parker's Will I Joseph Parker of Gates County North Carolina do make my last Will and Testament in manner following I give to my wife Catren fifty akers of Land whereon my Housis Stands with one third of the Orchard as long as she lives my widder also one Bay Horse two Cows and Calfs and Beef Stere four Sheep two Beds and furniture with the rest of my Household Goods of every kind except two Beds allso one Negro Woman named Press untill my youngest Daghter coms of age to work to maintain my Children and after that to be sold and her increse if any and the money after sold to be divided between Joseph Parker my Son and John Parker and Cader Parker and James Parker and Polly Parker and Alizabeth Parker and Nance Parker and Pressa Parker I give allso to my Wife two Sows and Pigs and one Thousand wate of Pork Fowls of every kind that I have allso I give to my Wife when the Crop comes of Twenty Barrels of Corn Ten Bushells of Peese also the Potaters that is made I give the other part of my Plantation to my Son Joseph Parker and my Still and the and 2 thirds of the other part of my Plantation when my Wife Marris or dise also one Mare I give to Sary Jones on Sow and Pigs all my other Estate to be sold and the money arising to be divided with all of my Debts due to me between Joseph Parker and John Parker and Cader Parker and James Parker and Polly Parker and Elizabeth Parker, and Nance Parker Pressa Parker, allso I give Polly one Bed and two Blankets, July The Twenty first, one Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty Nine also give to Elizabeth Parker 1 bed his Joseph X Parker mark Last Will and Testament of Joseph Parker Wits in the Presants of John Robbins Senr John Robbins juner I have John Robbins juner and Cader Hinton my Executors State of North Carolina Gates County for August Inferior Court of Pleas &c 1789 The within and above Will was exhibited into Court by John Robbins junior Executor therin appointed and was proved by the oath of John Robbins senior one of the subscribing Witnesses thereto, and then the said Executor came into Court and qualified himself for that Office and prayed an order for Letters Testamentary thereon which was accordingly granted.
