Gates County, NC - Wills - William Ellis-1798 File contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by Peggy Fischer Wills-FHL #0018965 In the name of God Amen November the 25th 1798 I William Ellis of Gates County, and in the Province of North Carolina being of a sound mind and perfect memory do make and ordain this my last will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say. First and principally, I recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it hoping in and through his death and passion to have full and free pardon and to inherit etarnal life and as touching all such temporal states as it hath pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me in this life I give and depose as followeth Vist. First my will is that all my Just debts and funeral charges be paid and discharged. Imprimis I give and bequeath to my daughters Jule Ellis one feather bed and furniture and twenty shillings in household furniture which she has already Recd. I say I give the said bed and furniture to my daughter Jule Ellis and her heirs forever. I give and bequeath to my son Jesse Ellis children Judith & William Ellis one feather bed and twenty shillings worth of house hold furniture which ther father Jesse Ellis had already recd. I say I give the said bed and furniture to my two grand children and their heirs forever. Item I give to my son Shadrick Ellis child Ann Ellis one feather bed and furniture and twenty shillings worth of household furniture which her father Shadrick Ellis has allready recd. I say I give the said bed to and furniture to my grandchild Ann Ellis and her heirs forever. Item, I give and bequeath to my son Jacob Ellis one feather bed and furniture and twenty shillings worth of household furniture which he has allready Recd. I say I give the said bed and furniture to my son Jacob Ellis and his heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath to my son Eli Ellis one feather bed and furniture and twenty shillings worth of household furniture which he has allready recd. I say I give the said bed to my son Eli Ellis and his heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath to my son Samuel Ellis one feather bed and furniture and twenty shillings worth of household furniture recd. I say I give the said bed and furniture to my son Samuel Ellis and his heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath to my son Jose Ellis all my land and improvements thereon and one feather bed and furniture and one mare I say I give to my son all my lands one bed & mare to my son Jose Ellis and his heirs forever Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah Dilday one feather bed and furniture and Twenty shillings worth of household furniture which she has recd. I say I give the said feather bed and furniture to my daughter Sarah Dilday and her heirs forever and all the rest of my property what ever after my decd. to be sold at publick sail by my executors and equally divided amongst all my children that is now living and to my grand children Jesse Ellis daughter daughter and son & Shadrick Ellis daughter. I say the ballence of my property to be sold by my executors and equally divided amongst all my children and grand children and there heirs forever & were I hearto appoint my son Jose Ellis and my friend David to be my hole and sole executors of this my last will and Testament to see it truly and honestly fulfiled according to my true intent and meaning In witness whereof I have her unto set my hand and fixed my seal the day and year above mentioned.
