North Carolina

Granville County.
Know all men by these presents that We Isaac Edwards John Williams & William 
Bullock all of Granville County are held & firmly bound unto Robert Harris 
Jonathan Kittrell and Thornton Yancey—Justices for the County of Granville in 
the sum of One thousand pounds proclamation Money. To the which payment well & 
truly to be made, We bind Ourselves Our Heirs Executors and Administrators 
jointly and severally firmly by these Presents.

Sealed with our Seals and dated this 17th Day of April A. D. 1770.

The Condition of the above Obligation is such that Whereas the above bounded 
Isaac Edwards hath the Day of the Date of these presents qualified under a 
Commission appointing him Clerk of the Pleas for the said County of Granville. 
Now if the said Isaac Edwards take due Care of the Records belonging to the 
said Office and faithfully discharge the Duties of the same, then the above 
Obligation to be Void otherwise to remain in full force & Virtue.
