THIS INDENTURE Made this 12th day of May in the Year of our Lord one thousand 
Seven Hundred & Eighty two Between Robert Busby of Lunenburgh County & State 
of Virginia of the one part & John Wilkerson of Granville County & State of 
North Carolina of the other part Witnesseth that the sd Robt Busby for & in 
consideration of the sum of one Hundred & Eighty Six pounds ten Shillings 
Virginia Currency in Specie to him in hand paid the receipt whereof he the 
Said Robert Busby doth hereby acknowledge hath granted bargained & sold & by 
these presents doth grant bargain Sell Alien release & confirm unto the sd 
John Wilkerson his heirs & assigns A Certain tract or parcel of Land Situate 
on the Waters of Jonathans & Grassey Creek in the sd County of Granville & 
bounded as follows, To wit, Beginning at a white Oak in George Malones line 
thence West two Hundred & Sixty poles to a black Oak thence South two Hundred 
& thirty poles partly on Josiah Daniels line & thence to a hickory then west 
on John Blackwells line two Hundred & Sixty poles to Richd Davis’s line thence 
North on Davis’s & George Malones lines to the Beginning Containing three 
Hundred & Seventy three acres either More or less & all the reversion & 
reversions remainder and remainders Rents & Services thereof & all the estate 
right title property & Interest claim & demand whatsoever of him the sd Robert 
Busby of & unto the sd land & premises with the appurtenances & of in & unto 
every part & parcel thereof To have & to hold the sd piece or parcel of Land & 
premises with the appurtenances thereto belonging to the sd John Wilkerson his 
heirs & assigns to the only proper use & behoof of him the sd John Wilkerson 
his heirs & assigns forever & the sd Robert Busby doth covenant grant to & 
with the sd John Wilkerson that he the sd Robert Busby the (sic ?) aforesaid 
piece or parcel of land & premises against the Claim of him the said Robert 
Busby his heirs & against & against (sic repeated) the Claim or Claims of all 
& every other person or persons will warrant & forever defend by these 
presents unto the sd John Wilkerson his heirs & assigns forever In Witness 
whereof the sd Robert Busby hath hereunto set his hand & affixed his Seal the
