Granville County, NC - Indenture - Strother to Cook, 1755 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Granville County Deed Book B, pages 451-453 Strother This Indenture made the twentieth day of February in the year of to our Lord one thousand seven hundred & fifty five and in the twenty Cook ninth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord King George the Second Exd Between Francis Strother of the County of Granville planter of the one part and Thos Cook Carpenter of the County afsd on the other part Witnesseth that the sd. Francis Strother for and in Consideration of the sum of Twenty pounds to him in hand paid before the Sealing and Delivery hereof the receipt whereof the sd. Francis Strother doth hereby acknowledge and himself to be theirwith satisfied contented & paid Have Granted Bargained Sold Aliened Infeoffed & Confirmed and by these presents Do Grant Bargain Sell Alien Infeoff and Confirm unto the said Thos Cook forever a certain tract of Land lying in the County of Granville & Province of North Carolina it being part of a tract of Land taken up by William Kendrick by Patent bearing date the 22 day of February 1789. and by him sold to Edward Jones by Deed, bearing dat 7th day of April 1743. and by him sold to Jeremiah Strother by Deed bearing date 3d day of June 1750. Relation being thereunto had may more fully and at large appear the said tract or parcel of Land being part of the said Patent and lying on the upper part of Creek being divided by a Branch that runs by the name of Bower P__ branch that runs through the Tract of Land taken up by the sd. Kendrick it is allowed and agreed on by both parties that all the Land on the upper side of the said Branch the sd. Thomas Cook is to have for one hundred and twenty five acres be the same more or less to begin at the mouth of the afsd. Branch & running up the Branch to where the line crosses the Branch and thence running along the line to Sandy Creek and thence down the Creek to the first station so as to include all the Land above the Branch which is judged to be one hundred & twenty five acres be the same more or less and all the Commodities Advantages Hereditaments & Apportanances whatsoever to the tract or parcel of Land belonging or in any ways appertaining and the Reversion & Reversions Remainder & Remainders Rents Issues & Profits thereof and of every part & parcel thereof and also all the Estate Right Title Interest Property Claim or Demand whatsoever of him the said Francis Strother and heirs of him to the said land and primises and every part & parcel thereof To have and to hold the said parcell of Land & premises with all and singular the Appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the said Thos Cook his heirs and assigns to the only proper use and behoof of the said Thos Cook his heirs & assigns do covenant promise Grant and Agree to & with the said Thos Cook his heirs and Assigns by these presents that the said Francis Strother the sd. Parcel of Land & premises and every part thereof against himself and against all & every other person or persons whatsoever to the said Thos. Cook his heirs & Assigns for ever shall & will Warrant & for ever Defend by these presents In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal the day and year first above written.
