Lord Granville to Mathias Miers - Patent Book 14, # 2474 transaction dated 
4/26/1754; Mathias Miers purchases 400 ACRES in Granville County on both sides 
of SKELTON (sic SHELTON) Creek; Witnesses Jno Haywood, Sher Haywood; SCC 
Benford Dickens, Griffin Nunary; Wm Churton, Surveyor.   Property surveyed 10 
June 1753.



Additional Comments:
Mathias/Mythias Miers/Myars/Meyers does NOT appear on the 1755 Granville Tax 
list; however, he appears as Survey Chain Carrier (SCC) on these deeds:

1757 - Lord Granville to Jacob Slaughter - Patent Book 14, #2710, page 69; 
transaction dated 9 Nov 1757; 640 acres in the Parish of St. John on both sides 
of SHELTONS CREEK, joining Miers line; Witnesses Sherd Haywood; Gideon Macon 
entered 3 January 1756 surveyed 7 February 1756 SCC: Matthies Miers, Jacob 
Slutter, Sherd Hayward D Sur -- Plat read "...land surveyd for Abraham Howser.

1760 - Lord Granville to Lydia Lashley - Patent Book 14, #1895, page 435; 
transaction dated 3 December 1760 - 250 acres in Granville County in the Parish 
of St. John on both sides of Tar River, joining both sides of Crooked run; 
Wits: Will Johnson, Charles Allen examed by Tho Jones and Will Hurst survyed 6 
February 1756 SCC: Willm Washington, Matthias Miers, Sherd Haywood D Sur...Plat 
reads: ..."land surveyd for Patrick Lashley"
